Food Environments in Canada: Symposium and Workshop

Many researchers have voiced the need for more Canadian-specific discussions of food environments. In response, the Food Environments in Canada: Symposium and Workshop was held in Saskatoon from May 21 to 23, 2015 as a forum for these discussions to happen in the hopes of leading to new collaborations and initiatives. The event offered opportunities for discussions, poster presentations and workshop breakout groups, and attracted researchers from across the country as well as keynote speaker Steven Cummins from the UK.

Goals / Outcomes: The goal of this symposium and methodological workshop was to bring together researchers, students, and practitioners to discuss completed and on-going studies along with the distinct strengths and challenges of Canadian food environments research, and to strategize for how to move this research forward in the future.
